2009 | National Conference| Category: Destination Image and Branding – Strategies and Implications.

A two days National Conference on Destination Image and Branding- Strategies and Implications was organized by the Institute of Vocational (Tourism) Studies, H.P. University, Shimla (11-12 Sept., 2009).   The Conference had  a gathering of about a 100 participants, with delegates from a number of places like, Kurukshetra, Rohtak, Chandigarh, Palwal, Gaziabad, Noida, Agra, Jhansi, Gwalior, Burdwan, Durgapur, Kerela, Delhi and Manipal, among others. The aim of the Conference was to discuss new and innovative strategies for branding of tourism destinations with special reference to Himachal as a tourist destination.

2008 | International Conference | Category: Backpackers Mobilities: An Expert Conference on Backpacker Tourism.

This International Conference was a gathering of esteemed academicians and scholars from countries like UK, Finland, Mexico, South Africa, New Zealand, Germany and USA, among others. Several issues related to Backpacker Tourism were discussed like,  Sub-cultural fashions in backpacking, Backpacker moorings and migrations, The return home and the influence on traveller's life course, Change of backpacker phenomenon over time, Geographic diversity of destinations and/or backpacker contexts, Alternative methodologies in backpacker research etc. Indian delegates from Jammu, Gwalior, Delhi, Kurukshetra and other parts of the country also participated to present the Indian Views.

2007- International Conference:  Cutting Edge Research in Tourism- Challenges and Opportunities.

The Institute organized this International Tourism conference covering a wide spectrum of Tourism Issues to be addressed under various heads like Tourism Management, Sustainable Tourism, E-Tourism, Tourism Marketing and Consumer Behaviour, Tourism Education System, Tourism Impacts, Alternate Tourism, Heritage and Cultural Tourism. The Conference provided an active interface of academicians, Policy Makers, Researchers. Tourism Professionals, Environmentalists and Entrepreneurs, with the presence of both National and International delegates. About 140 Academicians and Tourism Professionals from India and abroad will be participating. In this conference there will be participation from UK, France, Mexico, China, Australia, Kenya, Saudi Arabia and Srilanka
